(2022), sequins and beads on styrofoam, 18″ x 22″ x 6″
Inspired by portraits of Queen Elizabeth I, here is my own Queen of Sequins. I wanted to make this one because I couldn’t get the image of a red sequin wig out of my mind.
This artwork incorporates a lot of faux gemstones, pearls and crystal beads. (Fun fact: Elizabeth was always dripping with pearls in her portraits because it signified her purity, i.e., her status as The Virgin Queen who never married.)
The artwork is in a wood frame finished with a “crackle gold” appearance. It comes with a wire installed and is ready to hang.
